I am Feldenkrais Practitioner with over twenty years of experience teaching movement to a diverse range of students—from highly skilled young athletes and performers, to elderly people in the late stages of dementia. I teach group classes and workshops at the Life Loft, and elsewhere, and also see individuals for private hands-on lessons (see above for contact info).

The Feldenkrais Method offers a highly effective approach to addressing long-held movement habits that may interfere with fluid, efficient functioning. In Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® classes, I guide students slowly and carefully through movement variations organized around a particular theme. Attention is given to the process and to moment-by-moment comfort. Students feel refreshed and revitalized, able to move with more coordination, agility and ease. Over time, students may experience positive changes in many aspects of their lives, including better balance, breathing, sleep, anxiety-relief, and mental clarity.

Private hands-on Feldenkrais sessions, called Functional Integration®, allow me to work directly with a student’s individual strengths and challenges, and gently guide them to a wider range of more comfortable and effective movement possibilities.

I was introduced to somatic movement approaches around 1980, after many years of dancing and a dance-related knee injury. I became fascinated with the richness of this work, and studied intensively for some years in The Centre of Movement in Toronto and at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York. I began teaching movement in 1990, and have taught continuously since then. I have taught in the Faculty of Physical Education and Drama programs at the University of Toronto, Humber College, George Brown College and the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts. I have been a guest teacher and workshop leader in the York University Dance Department, the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation and other venues.

I have a B.A. in Communication (Dance minor), an M.F.A. in Dance History and Criticism, am a Certified Laban Movement Analyst and a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner.
