The Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method offers an innovative and highly effective approach for addressing long-held movement habits that may interfere with fluid, efficient functioning. Students are slowly and carefully guided through movement variations organized around a particular theme. Attention is given to the process and to moment-by-moment comfort. Awareness Through Movement ® Classes leave students feel refreshed and revitalized, able to move with more coordination, agility and ease. Over time, students may experience positive changes in many aspects of their lives, including better balance, breathing, sleep, anxiety-relief, and mental clarity.

ELDOA Classes 
with Christine Cinq Mars: 

Osteopathic inspired exercises to relieve deep seated back pain. 
These well thought out positions Elongate, Lengthen and Decompress the Osteo-Articular  joints of the spinal column (ELDOA). The effect is to stretch fascia that might be the cause of pressure, strengthen local muscle groups that stabilize the spine and relieve nerve and disc pain. 
Christine's personal story: 
I came upon this technique as a last-ditch effort to relieve back pain caused by a car accident. I tried yoga (20 years experience), pilates, feldenkrais as well as many manual therapies - all of which worked to a certain extent - but nothing relieved the pain like ELDOA.  I have been dedicated to studying this technique in order to bring it to my massage clients and movement students. There is hope for your chronic back pain. I hope you give it a try.

Eclectic Stretch 
with Christine Cinq Mars: 

A multi-disciplinary class incorporating my favourites from pilates, feldenkrais, remedial exercise, yoga, theraband and ball work. Great for the reluctant, the round of body and those recouperating from injury. Get moving and love the skin you’re in.

Conscious Movement,
with Frank Bach: 
Frank guides students to help them understand why they move as they do and offers practical, obtainable alternatives designed to give relief and allow the body to function in its intended way. Students have the opportunity to rethink the thought processes and acquired muscle patterns that dictate many aspects of who we are and how we feel.  
Classes are not "workouts" per se - there are not weights or machines. You will move your body and your mind. The only goal is to finish class in a better place than the one in which you began.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 
with Dr. Heidi Walk: 

Mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) is a program geared to enhance mindfulness in all aspects of your life. You may notice often you are “in your thoughts” – in the future or past, or simply “stressed-out”. This lack of presence leads to increased feelings of unease, separation from self and others – almost living life mechanically. With increased awareness, we have more options to change how we relate to ourselves and the world around us. 

The MBSR program is a model of stress reduction developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre. It has been proven effective for treating a variety of stress-related diseases and conditions and is beneficial for chronic pain, substance abuse issues, heart disease and high blood pressure.
